– Not Worriers!

A Year of Challenges, Triumphs, and Community Spirit

2024 was a rollercoaster of a year for We Are Warriors. Just as we were settling into our rhythm, mid-year brought unexpected news—the premises we called home had been sold, and we had until September to pack up and find somewhere new.

Finding a place with the right facilities, in a good location, and at an affordable rent felt like searching for a needle in a haystack. But thanks to the incredible Victoria Lewis and a determined group of volunteers, we managed to move swiftly. By September, we had reopened in our new home at the old commercial centre in Puerto Rico!

The community’s generosity was overwhelming. People donated to help us raise the deposit and cover rent—over €2,000 was needed to make the transition possible. Even The Pub stepped in, organising a fundraiser to help us tackle the unexpected costs of repairs and renovations.

A December to Remember 🎅🎉

Before we knew it, December had arrived, and with it, our much-anticipated festival at Balitó. This time, we added something special—the Santa Awards! The community had their say, nominating and voting for local business heroes. Thousands of votes were cast, building up to a night of celebration and recognition.

The festival was a full day of fun, with activities for children, great entertainment, and an electric atmosphere. As evening fell, local performers took to the stage, delivering one incredible act after another. Then came the awards, hosted by the fabulous Shona and Kezza. Dicey Reilly’s stole the show, sweeping up four prizes! But the most heartwarming moment was the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to the legendary Sir Bob Gorman.

Of course, no event is without its challenges—some performers had to cancel due to illness, and a few rain-induced power cuts kept us on our toes! But if anything, it just added to the adventure. And despite the hiccups, we raised €1,000 after expenses, which was a huge help.

Looking Ahead to 2025 💪

As the new year begins, we remain committed to supporting local people—helping families put food on the table, assisting with bills, and offering vital services to the homeless, including hot showers, meals, and clean clothes. Our shop continues to provide fantastic outfits at unbeatable prices for those on a low income.

But we’re not stopping there! This year, we’ve introduced even more ways to support the community:
Reiki sessions with Sonia
Massages and treatments from our volunteer nurse
An expanded frozen food selection
Homemade baked pies—because who doesn’t love a good pie?

Every penny we raise goes straight back into keeping We Are Warriors running, but with overheads now €400 higher per month than before, we are always in need of donations—big or small, every little bit helps.

Here’s to another year of resilience, kindness, and community spirit. Onwards and upwards! ❤️
